Who should receive a copy of the listing agreement?

The main idea is that copies of a listing agreement should go to everyone who is bound by that contract. A listing agreement is a contract between the seller and the broker (the brokerage). Each party needs a copy so they can review the terms—such as the listing price, duration, and commission—and have a record for reference throughout the listing period. This sharing promotes transparency and helps prevent misunderstandings if questions or disputes arise. The buyer isn’t automatically a party to the listing contract, so they don’t receive a copy unless they sign a separate buyer representation or purchase agreement. Therefore, the copy should go to all parties to the listing contract—usually the seller and the broker.
